Bremen imposes Speed limit on Autobahns to curb pollution and traffic deaths
German drivers will not be able to drive as fast as possible on autobahns with Bremen imposing speed limit. The northwestern state has limited the speed on autobahns to 120 km/h. The new rule will come into effect immediately.
Bremen is a small state with highways stretching only 60 kilometers. Motorists and High speed cars reach up to 300 km per hour on German Autobahns. As per the estimates, the traffic deaths in the state will decrease by 30% after the speed limit imposition.
In a statement issued by officials, road safety has been cited as main the reason for imposing speed limit. Another reason is to reduce the CO2 emissions by nearly 3.4 million tons per year.
