Botox Probably the New Aid for Asthma Patients

Botox Probably the New Aid for Asthma PatientsAccording to reports, Botox which is used to fight against wrinkles, and make the face look younger may be the next aid in eradicating the symptoms of Asthma.

The concept has to do with Botox ‘relaxing the muscle that controls the voice box, possibly making it easier for these patients to breathe’.

Monash Medical Centre in Australia has stated that Botox will be sampled on asthmatic patients, having issues with their voice box, and can go in to ‘spasm’.

Dr. John Mastronarde, Director of the Ohio State Asthma Center, said: “Botox has been used in some cases to treat people who suffer from vocal cord dysfunction, a condition characterized by abnormal movement of the voice box muscle”.

Though it’s not certain why asthma might expose victims to having vocal cord problems, the vocal cord problems make asthma symptoms more critical.

Moreover, Botox has botulinum toxin, a protein produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum, the drug is said to function by blocking nerve signals to the muscles, thus relaxing them, and researchers are required to be careful in order not to totally paralyze the voice box muscles.
