Boeing to change production line to stay competitive for Air Force bid

Boeing to change production line to stay competitive for Air Force bid Boeing, the aircraft making major said that it is going to make changes in its production line to be able to stay competitive in the bid for an Air Force tanker contract. The company has already filed its $35 billion bid for the contract and has a production line of 767 jets.

The change, said the company, is going to not only cut costs but will also help in maintaining quality. Boeing submitted its bid just as day later than the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company, parent company of Airbus. The two are fighting for what is going to be the biggest military contract in US in several years. The contract is about making refueling tankers. Interestingly, the bids come just a few days after Airbus got a ruling from the World Trade organization saying that it has received government subsidies.

The study was carried out after Boeing had complained that Airbus was able to file a low-cost bid because of the support it was getting from the government. EADS tankers are a variant of Airbus A330 and 200 jet while Boeing makes the same in its assembly line of 767.
