Bill to fix fair price for sugar New Delhi, Oct 29 : The cabinet Thursday approved a proposal to bring in a bill to fix a fair and remunurative price of sugar.

The bill will replace the ordinance issued Oct 21 to amend the Essential Commodities Act.

The ordinance fixed the price at Rs 129.84 per quintal linked to a recovery of 9.5 percent. Every 0.1 percent increase in recovery will add another Rs 1.37 to the price per quintal.

In other decisions, the cabinet approved the inclusion of a number of new tribes in Manipur in the list of Scheduled Tribes (STs) and the correction of the name of tribe in Arunachal Pradesh in the list, to Galo from the current Galong.

It also approved the creation of a post of advisor in the ministry of law and justice, of the rank of secretary to the government of India (GOI).

The cabinet also approved the revision of renumeration for National Research Professors, which has now been increased to Rs. 75,000 per month from the existing Rs. 25,000. (IANS)
