Bill Clinton set to hit Obama campaign trail next week
Washington, Sep 23 : Former US president Bill Clinton today said that he would campaign for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama beginning next week, once his annual philanthropy conference concludes
Clinton met with Obama in his Harlem office last week, and asked the candidate, “What do you guys want me to do?”
The answer appears to be to hold campaign events in Florida, Nevada and Ohio, as well as host fundraisers in New York, California and Ohio, the Washington Post reported.
Clinton said he would join his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and the vice-presidential candidate, Joseph Biden, at a campaign event in northeastern Pennsylvania.
“It’s a big October,” Clinton told a small group of philanthropy reporters in New York. “I’m going to be out there a lot for him.”
Asked about Sarah Palin, Clinton said he understands why the Alaska Governor has emerged as a popular figure among Republicans.
“I come from Arkansas. I get why she’s hot out there, why she’s doing well,” Clinton said.
“People look at her and they say, all those kids. Something that happens in everybody’s family. I''m glad she loves her daughter and she’s not ashamed of her. Glad that girl''s going around with her boyfriend. Glad they’re going to get married.”
Clinton also said that he would campaign for Obama in Arkansas, where he said he thinks the Illinois Senator could pull off an upset. (ANI)
