BHEL picks Rs 990 crore contract from RRVUNL
State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals has made announcement that the company has secured an order worth Rs 990 crore from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RRVUNL).
Under the terms of the contract, the company will build two units of 250 MW each at Chhabra Thermal Power Station in Rajasthan.
According to the sources, the commissioning of these two units will add 12 million units of electricity every day to the grid.
BHEL, in the proposed project, will execute design, engineering, manufacture, delivery, erection and commissioning of generators, turbines and associated auxiliaries along with controls and instrumentation system.
The source further revealed that power equipment maker (BHEL) has already rendered thermal sets totalling to 2750 MW to Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Nigam Ltd.
While indicating future roadmap, the board members of the company stated that BHEL envisages to pump Rs 1,400 crore to set up a manufacturing facility for castings and forgings, key components for power equipment.
For this, the conglomerate has also entered into a 50:50 joint venture with Heavy Engineering Corporation(HEC)provide the castings and forgings.
In a volatile market session, stock of Bharat Heavy Electricals settled well at Rs 1,591, up 5.2 per cent on National Stock Exchange. The total volume of shares traded at NSE was 2,952,244.
