Bharti to sell underwater bandwidth

Bharti to sell underwater bandwidth Bharti Airtel is ready to sell bandwidth on its undersea cables to carry traffic in the form of voice and data across the world by various operators using Bharti's network.

The Indian telecom giant, having approximately 200,000 kilometres of international fiber-optic cables, will soon launch a "global wholesale service" in Singapore.

The move will help the new wholesale service including Saudi Telecom, PCCW of Hong Kong, and Oman Telecom. Deutsche Telekom or France Telecom in Europe can also use Bharti's bandwidth under its own marketing brand for diverting its traffic to Australia or the US.

Currently, only Tata Communications and Reliance Communications offer global connectivity to various telecom players on their undersea networks. Now, Bharti Airtel joins the bandwagon to become global network solutions provider. It has also announced to enhance its undersea networks in coming years to route voice and data traffic across the world.
