Belkin announces WeMo-based new products ahead of CES

BelkinAhead of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Belkin has announced a number of WeMo-connected products, including light bulbs, a WeMo recipe-maker kit, and an Internet-enabled crock-pot.

The company's WeMo-connected LED light bulbs are fully dimmable. At the equivalent of 60 watts, individual bulbs last for around 23 years. Two dimmable LED light bulbs along with a bridge component that connects over your home's WiFi network will cost $129.99. Additional bulbs will cost $39.99. However, these bulbs will not change colour. Users can manage up to 50 bulbs on one bridge.

It may be noted here that Belkin's WeMo lets users to control the behavior of mains-connected products ranging from lamps to TVs. All of the company's WeMo-based products can be controlled using a dedicated iPhone app.

The company's second new item is WeMo recipe-maker kit that lets users to add WeMo compatibility to products controlled with a DC switch. It will enable users to create, utilize, and share several recipes. It will reportedly be compatible with IFTTT (if-this-then-that-service). The company also announced a new WeMo-connected crock-pot, which will allow users to control and check on their slow-cooking through the WeMo app. Using the iPhone app, users will also be able to know cooking times, temperature and more. WeMo-connected crock-pot will cost $99.99. Belkin has plans to release its new WeMo-connected products sometime in spring this year.
