Beijing’s Blue Sky vanishes immediately after Country’s Victory Day
Earlier, China celebrated its Victory Day. That day, the country's capital, Beijing, was smog-free. Residents of the capital were amazed to see perfect blues skies but immediately after the event, locals are once again forced to inhale smog. The noxious smog in the city's skies is making people think how the smog came back so fast.
An independent air quality pollution monitoring agency examined the smog, which covered the city just 24 hours after the event, revealed that the levels of air pollution have risen sharply overnight, which led to a blanket of smog covering the city's skies.
This is not the first time when Beijing residents witnessed blue skies. Last year during an APEC summit, the city's skies were smog free for about two weeks when leaders from across the world visited the city for the summit. After the summit, the city's skies returned with smog.
China has been dealing with air pollution from a long time. Before the Victory Day, the government passed an order to off a number of cars for some times. In addition, power plant and factory operations in the city were asked to shut down. When the celebration ended, air pollution control measures were lifted and the city's skies again turned to their previous form.
While talking about the country's pollution, Li Ming, CEO of Xiaomi, said after the event all types of vehicles and factories are now back. The city is totally jammed with vehicle polluting the environment. With vehicles and factories, air pollution is back in the city making the view from high buildings fuzzy.
