Bajaj may pull its plug out of Pune for its 2,000 crore project

Bajaj-AutoWhile the company had earlier kept Chakan as a priority area for its ambitious three and four wheeler plant but as the company is facing difficulties in the process of acquiring additional land, it is looking at various other locations for its Rs. 2,000 crore project.

Notably, the company currently owns 250 acres in Chakan and need an additional 100 acres for starting the manufacturing plant but since it is not able to do so as expected earlier, the company is weighing different options of destinations like Pantnagar and Aurangabad.

In fact, Bajaj Auto's MD Rajiv Bajaj recently confirmed the fact that as the Uttarakhand government was offering good incentives it has kept the option open for opening the new plant at Pantnagar.

Moreover, the company has enough free land in Aurangabad which makes the latter a probable candidate for the final selection.

The company hasn't even ruled out the possibility of choosing a new unit for its new plant. The company is planning to launch four-wheelers i. e. passenger cars and light CVs around the 2012 period in the Indian market.
