Automakers geared up to meet high demandWhile there is a lot of speculation at the moment that the auto industry may not just be able to meet the high demand of the Indian consumer but the fact of the matter is, the auto majors in the country are gearing up to reach new skies.

On the one end, Maruti Suzuki is planning a new plant at its Manesar unit and on the other side; Toyota Kirloskar Motors has also showed some desire to add more capacity to the existing units.

Chairman Maruti Suzuki India RC Bhargava said that the company is currently doing an initial study about the new plant but if it is finalised, it will come up in the Manesar unit which will have a capacity of 2.5 lakh units.

Managing officer Toyota Motor Mitsuhiro Sonada said that the company will soon have a total capacity of close to 1.5 lakh units after the second plant gets operational.

Chief operating officer Royal Enfield Venki Padmanabhan said that the company is planning to set up a new plant in Chennai. It is to be mentioned here that the Royal Enfield Classic currently has a waiting period of close to 9 months.
