Australian photographer captures Picture showing Fur Seal riding on Humpback Whale’s back

An Australian photographer has captured something rare, but amazing. The photographer, Robyn Malcolm, captured on his camera a seal riding on the back of a whale. According to Malcolm, she captured the rare sight from a whale-watching boat.

While remembering the moment, Malcolm said she was on a boat of the coast of Eden in southern New South Wales when she saw a fur seal on the back of a humpback whale. According to the photographers, during her whale-watching time, she saw a number of whales coming out of the water. A lot of activities were happening in the water and she didn’t realize what her camera had captured.

Malcolm said she came to know about the rare incident when she went back through the pictures she captured. She realized that her camera captured the seal on top of the whale, Malcolm said.

Geoff Ross, whale expert from NSW National Parks and Wildlife, said the moment that Malcolm captured was very rare and amazing. He said the last time he came to know about a rare incident was when a seal was trying hard to get away from a whale.

In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Ross said, “That’s the first time I’ve seen that happen in NSW waters”.

Apart from the amazing picture, Malcolm captured something else with her camera. In some pictures, humpback whales can be seen using a unique technique, bubble-net feeding, which experts believed only occurred in colder waters.
