Australia and China to pen down new air deal

Australia and China are planning for a new air services agreement between the two countries that could further open skies for the business and tourism segment. Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s government bats for increasing number of flights under the proposed accord for providing better air connectivity between two nations.

The proposed deal would make airlines from both countries to offer as many as 10,500 seats a week immediately and 4,000 seats from November this year. The development would roll out new opportunities for airlines in the Asia-Pacific which is the biggest market of Asia Pacific region, according to a statement.

Transport Minister Anthony Albanese said that the deal would increase seats on the route by 70 per cent revising the previous cap of 8500 seats. The air agreement would help to further push economic relationship with China, the largest trading partner of Australia.

Australian airlines have also an opportunity to enhance their connectivity with other European destinations in addition to Chinese cities. The agreement, according to the Minister, would also help to remove many limitations between airlines of both countries.
