Audi aims top position in Indian luxury car market

Audi aims top position in Indian luxury car market German luxury auto maker Audi is looking forward to reach the top position by the year 2015. The company has entered in the Indian premium car market and aiming to beat BMW and Mercedes. It has been anticipating acquiring the number one spot in the next five years with superior sales than its competitors in the country.

However, Audi was placed at number three position in the list of luxury cars in India for the year 2009. BMW and Mercedes were at number one and two positions respectively.

AUDI AG board member Peter Schwarzenbauer has informed to the media that the company aims to capture the Indian luxury car market and it has stated working on this. It is focusing on brand building and developing dealerships for deeper market penetration.

Currently it has 12 operative dealers in India and it will be increased to 18 by subsequent year. The company is also going to start assembling its compact SUV Q5 in India by the middle of this year. Audi has sold 1,658 units in the year 2009 and targeting to sale around 5,000 units by 2015.
