ASUS has unveiled its ‘Eee PC’ in the Indian market.
The ASUS Eee PC is a small, slim affair that’s mainly aimed at pupils, housewives, old persons, and teenagers. It offers users with the wide-ranging Internet application, which is based on three Es – ‘Easy to learn, work, play’; ‘Excellent Internet experience’ and ‘Excellent mobile computing experience’, and for this reason the product named ‘Eee PC’.
The company said that its Eee PC weighs just .92 kg, and comes with flash-based storage and integral webcam. It also facilitates Easy learning, working and playing.
On the occasion of launch, Albert Tung, Managing Director, ASUS India, said, “The ASUS Eee PC is a revolution that has enhanced the computing lifestyle of technology users. It aims at enriching human life like all our other technology offerings. With computing demands as well as growing number of users, both young and old, the ASUS Eee PC provides users with a new mobile Internet experience like never before.”
Based on the Intel CPU and chipset, the Eee PC provides two modes of instinctive user interface to fit experienced as well as inexperienced PC users, and bundles more than 40 built-in applications. Its other features comprise built-in flash-memory, 512MB DDR2 memory, 300K pixels video camera and WLAN.
Francis Kao, Product Manager, ASUS India, said, “It is a matter of great pride for us to introduce the Eee PC for Indian users. The worldwide acceptance of this product is symbolic of its simplicity, robust build quality and user friendliness. Although it is primarily aimed at schoolchildren and teenagers, even other user groups have shown a lot of interest in this product.”
Other features of the Asus Eee PC include 7-inch display, Intel CPU and Chipset, Linux Operating System, Compatible with Windows XP, Ethernet, WLAN, 3 USB Ports, 510MB DDR2 Memory, 4GB SSD Storage, Webcam, Stereo Speakers and Microphone.
At first, the Eee PC is being introduced in Mumbai market, and will be made available in other cities by March 2008. The Eee PC will be available starting February 2 evening at Croma stores in Juhu and Malad, plus at e-zone.
Available in two different colors such as Galaxy Black and Pearl White, the Eee PC is priced at Rs 18000.
