Asif Ali Zardari says Pak Taliban has upper hand in war-against-terror

PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali ZardariIslamabad, Aug 25: PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, who is all set to become the next President of Pakistan, has said that the Pakistan unit of the Taliban – the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) – should be put on the list of banned organisations in Pakistan as it was presently having an “upper hand” is so far as the Pakistan Government’s war against terror was concerned.

He said both the world and Pakistan were losing the war on terror.

“It is an insurgency, and an ideological war. It is our country and we will defend it. The world is losing the war. I think at the moment they (the Taleban) definitely have the upper hand. The issue, which is not just a bad case scenario as far as Pakistan is concerned or as Afghanistan is concerned but it is going to be spreading further. The whole world is going to be affected by it,” the BBC quoted Zardari as saying in an interview.

Zardari''s remark came shortly after is party the PPP announced his name as its presidential nominee.

Zardari said he was confident of winning the September 6 Presidential election. (ANI)
