Ashok Leyland Plans To Make Investment Of Rs 4,150 Cr In Tamil Nadu
Ashok Leyland is eyeing to make an investment of around Rs 4,150 crore in the state of Tamil Nadu.
The planned investment consists of a Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) project together with its Japanese associate, Nissan.
Hinduja's flagship firm stated that it would roll out two more products by 2012 end.
Mr. Vinod Dasari, managing director, Ashok Leyland, stated that the planned investments comprised establishing a greenfield plant to make LCV, in association with Nissan. The plant will be established at Pillaipakkam by Ashok Leyland-Nissan Motor Company.
In 2011, Ashok Leyland-Nissan introduced their primary product Dost that arrived from Ashok Leyland.
As per Dasari, Ashok Leyland sold 7,760 units and has managed to grasp 17% market share in the Light Commercial Vehicle market at the present.
Ashok Leyland will also make investment in Hosur, Ennore, and afterward at Velli Vaayalsavadi and Orgadam. This conducts of expanding the capacitance for M&HCV.
The memorandum of understanding for the said investment was inked by R Seshasayee, executive vice-chairman, Ashok Leyland with the TN administration on May 14 at Chennai.
In the meantime, Ashok Leyland stated that it would bring Avia's cab to the country by this fiscal’s last quarter.
The commercial vehicle giant also stated that it would introduce two more products, comprising Jan Bus, a front-engine low floor bus, during the last half of 2012, and Five Axle Rigid Truck by end of the first half of the year.
It is also making plans to bring out Neptune Engines by the next 3-4 months.
In addition, Ashok Leyland has roped in cricketer, MS Dhoni, as its new brand ambassador.
