Arushi murder case: Dr. Talwar to be produced before court today

Dr. Talwar, who was produced before a court on May 27, was remanded to police custody till today. He has sought bail while the police are seeking court's permission to put him through narco analysis and brain mapping tests.
On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati said that the Uttar Pradesh Government is ready for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the case.
Mayawati blamed the Congress Government for politicising the case. She said that the police had certain evidence in connection with the case, but propriety did not allow her to divulge it.
Earlier, Dr. Talwar’s lawyer had filed contempt petition against NOIDA police alleging that the police had taken Talwar to an undisclosed location without informing his lawyers which was in violation of the court's order.
The contempt petition was filed at the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate A. K. Singh, claiming that NOIDA police have not adhered to a direction that a lawyer should be present during the interrogation of Dr. Talwar.
The judge had asked for a lawyer’s presence during the interrogation of Dr. Talwar after defence lawyers expressed apprehension that the dentist could be tortured in custody.
Dr. Talwar was arrested on May 16 in connection with the murder of his teenaged daughter Arushi and domestic help Hemraj. (ANI)
