Another one for Toyota- nearly ten thousand 2010 Lexus GX 460 recalledAccording to some official reports, Toyota Motor Sales U. S. A. announced a voluntary recall of 2010 Lexus GX 460 sports utility vehicles to upgrade stability control software.

The software, known as vehicle stability control, helps keep the vehicle in control as it loses traction with the road during turns, Toyota has said.

It has been reported that the issue came to light last week when Consumer Reports labeled the car a "Don't Buy, Safety Risk," following tests that found the vehicle lost control during turning. It was said by Consumer Reports that it could turn into a rollover problem.

Steve St. Angelo, Toyota chief quality control officer for North America, said in a statement on Monday, "Our engineers have conducted tests to confirm the VSC performance issue raised by Consumer Reports, and we are confident this VSC software update addresses the concern."

It had agreed to pay a $16.4 million fine, the largest ever levied on a carmaker, for a four-month delay in issuing a recall on eight models experiencing loss of speed control problems, Toyota said on Monday.

It was paying the fine to avoid litigation, not because it had done anything wrong, the Japanese Auto giant has said.

Monday's recall involves 9,400 vehicles.

The company said on Friday that it was recalling 600,000 first and second generation Sienna 2WD mini-vans due to rust occurring in a spare tire carrier cable. (With Inputs from Agencies)
