Amitabh Bachchan, who is considered to be the “God” of bollywood industry, might be busy performing in Britain in the ‘Unforgettable Tour’, but still the superstar took time to undergo a diabetes test in Leicester, just to support the cause of health awareness.

The magic of the Indian superstar is so widespread around the globe that as soon as he took the test at the Silver Star Appeal on Saturday, thousands of his fans gathered there just to get one glimpse of him. Further when the actor himself came out and waved at them, there was no end to the joy-screams of the fans. This campaign was started by British MP Keith Vaz, with the aim to gather charity for diabetes.

Vaz announced to the crowd, “He’s in the clear and very happy about it. We gave him a self-testing kit to take away.”

Other than this, Big-B also took out time to launch a Mobile Assessment Unit which is portable and capable to carry out free diabetes test. The unit also promotes culturally sensitive health-care.

While shooting for Coolie years back, the actor had met a serious accident. It is since then Amitabh Bachchan is very concerned and promotes health causes.

Diabetes is widespread everywhere. Alone in U.K., nearly 22 million have diabetes and another 750,000 might be living with it without even knowing about it, for they have never undergone a test.

By 2010, it is being estimated that around 66,000 people in Leicester, would be living with diabetes, without even knowing about it. So it is advisable to all that each one should get a diabetes test asap.
