Air-conditioned radio taxi service launched in Ludhiana

Air-conditioned radio taxi service launched in LudhianaThe air-conditioned radio taxi service was launched in Ludhiana on Wednesday. The transport minister Master Mohan Lal launched the service by flagging off 25 air-conditioned radio taxi cabs at Sutlej Club.  

Ludhiana has become the third city, after Amritsar and Mohali, to have the service. The transport minister told that the mega cabs will shuttle around the city within a radius of 40-km including Khanna, Jagraon and Malerkotla. The service will also cover Phagwara.

The taxi service is expected to greatly benefit the residents and visitors to Ludhiana. The service will allow the people to call taxis by dialing 4141414 anytime of the day or night. After a call, a metered well-appointed AC taxi will arrive within minute to pick the caller to his/her desired destination.

Master Mohan Lal told that the mega cabs are equipped with electronic tamper-proof meters ensuring accurate billing. With the perfectly transparent metering system, the mega cabs follow point-to-point charging system, which charges at a rate fixed by the Punjab Government at Rs 15 per km.

 The Mega Cabs are running successfully in Delhi, Mumbai, and Chandigarh, The transport minister announced that the service will be launched in Jalandhar shortly. Master Mohan Lal also declared that the Punjab transport ministry is aiming to transform at least 50% of the busses of the Punjab transport (PRTC) into air conditioned buses by the end of the tenure of the present Akali-BJP government.
