AAI Cancels Strike After Meeting With Civil Aviation Minister
Airport employees on Thursday (March 13) canceled the strike that they earlier announced to carry on for indefinite period.
The AAI employees had gone on strike from Tuesday midnight as they demanded that the government will continue functioning at Bangalore and Hyderabad airports together with new ones.
Now the flight operations were normal and per schedule as the union leaders called off their strike after the administration promised them that no airport in the country would be closed down without consulting them.
A representative for Mumbai International Airport said, “Operations at the airport are functioning normally and the flights are on schedule.”
After a successful meeting of the union leaders with Minister for Civil Aviation Praful Patel, Airport Authority Employees Joint Forum Convener MK Ghoshal, who announced the withdrawal of the strike, stated that Mr. Patel guaranteed the unions that upgrading of 35 no-metro airports would be carried out with full involvement of the AAI.
The meeting took place between the minister and three representatives of the AAI unions, MK Pandey, Deepankar Mukherjee and MK Ghoshal.
