Panchmahal Dairy has been distributing 200 gm milk pouches among primary schools students at various tribal areas under the Gujarat government's Dudh Sanjivani Yojana. Around 62 children in Batakwada Tad primary school in Santrampur taluka of Panchmahals district fell ill after consuming the milk.

Like everyday 97 students of the primary school were given the milk pouches after the prayer on Tuesday. Within few hours after consuming the milk some students started vomiting. 62 students were admitted to the hospital. The teachers of the school found worms in the milk pouches. The sample of milk has been sent to hospitals for testing.

Panchmahals DEO RD Vankar said: "School authorities have been told to check the manufacturing date of the food products before giving it to the children."

Taluka development officer PV Vasaiya said that all students are out of danger. All kids who suffered due to food poisoning were enrolled in class I to class V.

He added that it seems that the food poisoning occurred as milk given to the kids turned sour.
