According to data from Big Brother Camera Security, 14.4% of PIN codes users by all iPhone users are based on just 10 PIN code combinations.

Developer Daniel Amitay’s Big Brother Camera Security app takes a picture of anyone using your iPhone 4 using the front camera in the device, anonymously. Amitay collected 204,508 pin codes and has posted graphics on the choice of PIN codes on his website.

The website shows that "1234" was the most common code used and chosen by 4.3% of users followed by "0000" used by 2.6%. Other codes in the top ten were 2580, 1111, 5555, 5683, 0852, 2222, 1212 and 1998.

The top 4 codes represented 10.8% together, which would make an iPhone thief likely to unlock one in 10 phones with those odds. “Formulaic passwords are never a good idea,” Amitay said. However, the research shows the most users pick easy codes for the devices.

Experts advice users not to choose years for example year of birth, current year etc as their codes and it might be guessed by anyone try to use the device without the permission of the owner.
