Zuckerberg, Schmidt warns against over-regulation of internetCo-founder and Chief executive Officer of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg and Google chief Eric Schmidt urged the governments around the world to avoid over-regulating the internet.

The two technology leaders are heading the group of internet pioneers to the G8 summit in France. They will present the recommendations prepared at the e-G8 gathering in Paris this week.

The remarks by Mr. Zuckerberg and Mr. Schmidt indicate that industry is concerned over increasing laws controlling certain aspects of the internet. Mr. Zuckerberg argued that the authorities cannot simply pick which aspect to control and which aspect to leave out.

"People tell me on the one hand 'It's great you played such a big role in the Arab spring, but it's also kind of scary because you enable all this sharing and collect information on people'," Mr. Zuckerberg said. "But it's hard to have one without the other. You can't isolate some things you like about the internet and control other things that you don't."

Mr Schmidt expressed that the technology sector moves very quickly and urged the governments not to regulate something without understanding the consequences.
