Yuvraj eyeing on no. 1 spot in ODI rankings
Indian vice-captain Yuvraj Singh will be aiming to dethrone skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni from the no. 1spot in the ICC ODI rankings. Dhoni is placed at the top spot while Yuvraj occupies second spot in the ODI batsmen rankings.
There is a difference of only 44 rating points between Dhoni and Yuvraj. However, the new rankings will be decided on the basis of performance of both batsmen in the tri-series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. The tri-series will kick off from Tuesday with match between Sri Lankan and New Zealand while Indian team will play their first match on 11th September.
The cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and opener Gautam Gambhir will also try to make into top 10 batmen. Sachin is placed at 12th rank while Gautam shares 17th spot with New Zealand's Ross Taylor.
Among the Indian bowlers, Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan are the only bowlers to make into top 20 bowlers to be at 23rd and 16th place respectively.
Indian team is ranked second in the ODI teams and they are just one ratings point behind the top ranked South African team. India will have to win all three matches to earn two rating points and to reach at the top position.
