Yousuf Hark Back To First Rank In Test Rankings
The former ICL player Mohammad Yousuf has harked back to the number one spot in the latest ICC test rankings after a cracking century against Sri Lanka in the first test match, which was his first appearance in the International cricket after rejoining the ICC.
Yousuf was granted amnesty by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after ending his contract with rebel ICL, and he smashed 112 runs in the first innings of the first test match against Sri Lanka at Galle.
Younis Khan, the Pakistan skipper, has slipped to second spot and this has been first time that the first two ranks have been occupied by Pakistan players since introduction of ICC rankings since June 1987.
Even a century by Yousuf was unable to win test for Pakistan and Sri Lanka won the first test match by 50 runs as Pakistan bundled out on 117 runs while chasing a small target of 168 runs on the fourth day.
Indian aggressive opener Gautam Gambhir has moved up one position to thirds spot among the test batsmen in the latest ICC test rankings.
