X Files Is Back Though Not With A Bang
X Files is back though not in the form of tele series but with its new feature film, X: Files I Want to Believe. It was a welcome comeback on the Silver screen for the protagonists who’ve managed to keep its viewers hooked for literally nine years.
The tele series, which used to showcase the paranormal activity coupled with mysterious happenings and ‘what’s going to happen next’ phenomena launched its first feature film ten years back, so it was good to see the two FBI agents trying to unravel the mystery again in their new film.
The movie this time too was expected by its viewers to keep the suspense and the level of engrossment they experience alive though this time the Director and co-writer Chris Carter seems to miss the mark. The story though manages to begin with an eerie note. The kidnap of an FBI agent happens and with no clues at hand the only resort of help is a corrupt priest (Billy Connolly) who’s convicted and experiences intutions and psychic phenomena of the whole incident.
The most awaited moment comes then when our beloved and sought after crime busters are called for. Mulder and Scully (David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson) though no longer are with FBI now but their efficiency of cracking the crime can least be doubted. The unveiling of the mystery follows with the agents being bumped into creepy things such as encounter with Russians, some parts of the body and alike.
As the movie follows, it’s a thrilling experience to see the two protagonists living upto their roles as ever. Though the two actors with their undoubtedly fine acting skills manage to make the mark but alas the storyline seems to be dragging. The supposedly horror scenes though meant to scare the audiences is seen in its desperate attempts to do so as the same falls out to be least horror but more of a comic.
As the X: Files I Want to Believe hits the theatres on Friday. It seems to be less of a shocking but more of an appalling nature. Though don’t want to dishearten the X files fans but one can watch it for the emotional bonding one has for the same.
