WishTel to launch Linux-based notebooks and tablets
Mumbai based electronics manufacturer, Wishtel has said that it is planning to launch a series of notebooks and tablets, which are powered by Linux-based PrithV platform, this month in the Indian market.
WishTel Chief Executive Officer Milind Shah said in a statement, "Our objective as a technology and manufacturing company is to create affordable range of products that can contribute to society by extending education for free and without boundaries."
The company said that the new devices will support 85 global languages like English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Urdu, and Zulu besides 23 local Indian languages. The new PrithV platform will also offer educational software that will enhance the self learning among students.
The company has included pre-primary, tertiary and higher education content for the students. The students will be able to access built in software for languages and science subjects including physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, geography and Mathematics topics like algebra, calculus, geometry, as well as other subjects like medicine, economics and computing.
The notebooks will be priced at $120 or Rs. 6525 and the tablets will be priced at $50 or about Rs. 2719 in the Indian market. The low prices of the devices will allow the company to compete well in the budget and entry-level market and allow a large number of customers to purchase the products in the country.
