West Indies storms into semifinals
West Indies has advanced to the semifinals of the ICC T20 World Cup after defeating host England by five wickets in super eight round at the Oval on Monday.
England skipper Paul Collingwood won the toss and elected to bat first against West Indies.
England scored 161 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Ravi Bopara was top scorer for England who scored 55 runs in just 47 balls while DJ Bravo took two wickets for West Indies.
But due to rain interruption, West Indies was given a revised target of 80 runs in 9 overs by D/L method. West Indies got a bad start as they lost three wickets for just 16 runs on the board.
But the man of the match R Sarwan and S Chanderpaul batted brilliantly and scored 19 and 17 runs respectively as West Indies chased the target in just 8.2 overs.
With this win over England, West Indies has qualified to the semifinals of the ICC T20 World Cup with South Africa from Group E.
