Vettori bags New Zealand Player of the Year award

daniel-vettoriNew Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori has been named as New Zealand Player of the Year at the annual awards ceremony of the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) in Auckland on Thursday.

The 30- year-old Vettori also bagged the Winsor Cup for best first-class bowler and JR Reid best all-rounder Trophy. Vettori has led his team from the front as he had performed exceptionally well with the bat and ball to led New Zealand in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy last month.

NZC Chief Executive Justin Vaughan said that Vettori is one of the most intelligent and accomplished captain in the cricket world and he has led his team by example as he has scored 3000 runs apart from taking 300 wickets in test matches.

Martin Guptill won the best one-day player award while Jesse Ryder is named as best player in first-class cricket. Kyle Mills, world no. 1 ODI bowler, won the best bowler of the year award.

 In women's cricket, former captain Haidee Tiffen clinched the best batsman award while medium-pacer Kate Pulford won the best bowler prize.
