UK retailers begin summer sales

UK retailers begin summer salesBritish retailers have begun their summer sales to sell their summer stock in the market to boost growth and prepare for the new coming season.

The British retailers are now offering half-price high street in an attempt to sell unsold stock in the market. The recent cold weather has impact the market and thus the retailers are now looking to offer sales on a host of items from summer dresses to patio furniture.

Debenhams, House of Fraser and Laura Ashley have announced the launch of their half-price sales. John Lewis has also indicated that it would also offer similar deals to the customers as its sales were down 5.2 per cent from the previous year. Home Retail Group, which owns Argos and Homebase, Marks & Spencer, Gap, Currys and many others are increasingly looking to offer attractive deals to the customers this season.

The British Retail Consortium said that the price cuts are large this year as clothes and shoes are down by 5.7 per cent, and electrical goods by 5.2 per cent in the UK. There are concerns that the shoppers have moved to online sellers looking for cheaper deals and for saving costs and time.
