UDF demands probe into CPI-M-BJP clash
Kochi, Mar 10: The Congress-led opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) protested today in the Kerala Assembly over the LDF Government's refusal to accept its demand for an immediate discussion on the Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPI-M) and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) clash in Kannur District.
The din in the house led to its adjournment for the day.
During Zero Hour, UDF members trooped into the Well of the House and shouted slogans anti-LDF slogans.
Both Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan opposed the UDF's adjournment notice and claimed that normalcy had returned to Kannur. The Government, they added, is ready for an all-party meeting on the issue.
Achuthanandan said the Government holds the view that there should be talks between the BJP and CPI (M) leaders before the all-party meet.
The BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) leaders, however, have turned down the idea.
Balakrishnan said both parties have assured him of their co-operation to stop the violence. (ANI)
