UAE partakes Follow-up Int'l Conference on Financing for Development

Sultan Saeed Al MansouriABU DHABI, Nov. 29th, 2008: UAE Minister of Economy Sultan Saeed Al Mansouri is leading the UAE delegation "The Follow-up International Conference on Financing for Development to Review the Implementation of the Monterrey Consensus" which started today in Doha, Qatar.

The UAE delegation comprises UAE Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, UAE Ambassador to Qatar Abdul Redha Khouri, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy for Economic Affairs and International Cooperation Khaled Al Ghaith, Director of Governmental Communications at the Foreign Ministry Hala Lootah and officials from ministries of Health, Water and Environment, Social Affairs as well as Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.

The 5-day conference is meant to act as a bridge from the G20 Washington meeting to the Doha Conference by proposing concrete actions that: - limit the impact of the financial crisis on developing countries - maximize the potential for responses to the crisis that also address climate change - allow for a strengthened and more inclusive multilateralism to develop that will allow faster and more Coordinated actions to tackle common challenges.
