Two-third of humans feeling the mobile mania
According to a new report crafted by the International Telecommunications Union, about half the people on the blue planet are glued to mobile phones which is estimated around 4.6 billion people who have subscribed or mobile phone services at the end of 2009, which contributes to a 67 percent of the entire human population.
The number count depicts the many fold growth in the mobile industry, since 2002, approximately 1 billion people subscribed to use cell phones.
The report synchronized the data for mobile phone, landline, and Internet usage across 159 countries in the world, and saw that technology and communication has played a crucial role in making the globe a small village on the other hand side making the technology less expensive, with the average cost of services declining by 15 percent globally between 2008 and 2009.
The major contributors are the developing nations in the growth of telecommunications, as in 2009, the penetration of mobile phone in developing countries crossed over 50 percent for the first time, with an approximately 57 percent of inhabitants using a mobile phone.
Although the technology has crossed barriers of the nations, it still has to combat the biggest and important challenge which is to call more people online with the limited availability of fixed broadband access.
