Two revamped Slingboxes unveiled by Sling Media

Two revamped Slingboxes unveiled by Sling MediaTwo revamped Slingboxes - Slingbox 350 and Slingbox 500 - have recently been introduced by Sling Media, in its effort to ensure that live and recorded programs are accessible by users on their smartphone, tablet, or computer. Both the new upgraded Slingboxes are scheduled to hit the markets on October 14.

According to Sling Media, both the new upgraded Slingboxes - which were prematurely disclosed by a Best Buy store in an inadvertent slip-up - will boast the capability of delivering 1080p HD-quality live-streaming of TV content to the mobile devices of the users.

While the more affordable $180-priced Slingbox 350 will feature what Sling Media has described as a "sleek, industrial" design together with integrated IR emitters; the $300-priced Slingbox 500 will boast on-board Wi-Fi, HDMI, and integrated IR emitters to facilitate the control of a set-top box.

In addition, Slingbox 500 will also have the SlingProjector advantage to enable the users receive and display content, such as photos, on a TV.

The SlingProjector update to the Slingbox 500 will essentially allow users to stream content from their mobile devices to their TV sets; thereby marking a notable advancement over the original Slingbox which offered only the so-called placeshifting technology, whereby users could only stream live and recorded TV shows to their mobile PCs, smartphones and tablets.
