TVS Motor’s sales fell 6.17% in May
TVS Motor Company has said that its sales have fallen by a disappointing 6.17 per cent during the month of May 2013.
The company said in a statement that it was able to sell a total of 1,65,151 units during the month of May compared to 1,76,012 units sold during the May of 2012. In the two-wheeler segment, the company recorded a fall of 8 per cent in sales at 1,59,346 units compared to 1,73,092 units May 2012.
In the domestic market, the company's sales stood at 1,40,046 units during the month of May, 2013 compared to 1,51,980 units sold during May 2012. It said that sales of motorcycles grew by 3.85 per cent to 66,606 units from 64,134 units sold in May 2012 and sales of scooters fell to 33,747 units during the month compared to 38,833 units during May 2012.
As for exports, the company sales rose 6.9 per cent to 24,393 units during May 2013 compared to 22,817 units sold in the same month of the previous year. Meanwhile, the exports of two-wheelers fell to 19,290 units from 21,112 units and sales of its three-wheelers grew by 98.8 per cent to 5,805 units from 2,920 units.
