TV Reality Show Contestant Toshi Sabri Assaulted
Mumbai: A former contestant of a television reality show “Voice of India”, Toshi Sabri was attacked by three unidentified men in Andheri, northwest Mumbai on Sunday.
The 20-year-old victim, whose real name is Mohammad Sabri, was walking near a railway track with a friend where he was assaulted. Deputy Commissioner of police K.M.M Prasanna said that victim suffered head injuries.
An anonymous person informed Toshi’s brother Sharib, who was lying injured on the roadside. Toshi was rushed to Nanavati hospital.
“Toshi was brought on Sunday night and was admitted for fractured skull bone. We conducted an operation on his skull and now his condition is stable. He has been shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU),” said Dr. Ashok Hatolkar, the medical superintendent of Nanavati Hospital.
Senior Police Inspector of the Andheri police station, Pradeep Suryavanshi, said, “As of now, we have no clue on the motive behind the attack. However, we are conducting an enquiry in the matter. We have also questioned the woman who was present at the time of the incident and brought Toshi to the hospital. Based on her descriptions, we are drawing sketches of the unidentified assailants. I cannot reveal more details at the moment.”
Toshi, who is from Rajasthan, has given a statement to the police.
Toshi Sabri had been among the 12 finalists on the ‘Voice of India’ reality talent show on the Star Plus channel.
In year 2008, the number of incidents of crime is on a rise in Mumbai. Police needs to be strict in order to curb violence.
