TV with no exercise increases the risk of diabetics for children
The latest research has shown that teenage boys who watch TV and play computer games instead of playing games outdoors are at thrice the amount of risk in developing diabetes.
It was a study done by the researcher Dr Louise Hardy of University of Sydney, and colleagues who took blood samples from 500 Sydney Year 10 students.
It was observed that boys who adhered to more than the recommended maximum two hours of ‘screen time’ were found to be more sensitive to have developed insulin resistance, a precursor to type-2 diabetes.
It was further added that close to 90 per cent of boys and 75 per cent of girls spent a total of almost 22 hours glued to their televisions and computers.
