Tuffy, Diamanti called into the Kiwi team for CT

Daryl TuffeyFast bowler Daryl Tuffey and all-rounder Brendon Diamanti has been called for New Zealand for next month's Champions Trophy in South Africa.

However, Tuffey has picked only for the Tests. He will not feature in any limited-overs matches in the Island nation since the team had decided to take three spinners into the one-day and Twenty20 series.

Tuffey has replaced off-spinner Nathan McCullum.

Tuffey last played ODIs for New Zealand in the World Cup in 2007 after which he joined Subash Chandra promoted Indian Cricket League (ICL) for two years.

Meanwhile, Kiwi’s coach Andy Moles feels that Diamanti's inclusion to the ODI team in Sri Lanka will offer the side with an additional all-rounder cover.

Speaking on Diamanti’s, Moles said: “Brendon is a strong lower order striker and has good control as a medium pace bowler - he will provide valuable back-up for the squad.”

Diamanti is currently playing for New Zealand A in India.

New Zealand team is scheduled to play ODI tri-series against India and Sri Lanka scheduled from September 1 to 8. He will leave to Colombo on August 26.
