Troubled childhood linked with teenage drinking
According to the reports laid by the latest study an association between a troubled childhood and turning into an alcohol drinker in teenage years has a strong relation.
Boffins did an observational study in 9,189 adolescents aged 12-19 years living in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Malawi, and Uganda that was aimed at bringing out the link between childhood experiences and drunkenness.
It came out that around 9 percent respondents were claimed of being drunk in the past 12 months foregoing the survey.
In general people who took part in the survey who initially had food-insecure household or either stayed with a drinker, been physically abused, or been forced of having sex were more likely to report drinking habits.
Dr. Caroline Kabiru, researcher from African Population and Health Research Centre, stated: "Early treatment for traumatic childhood experiences may be an essential component of interventions designed to prevent alcohol abuse among adolescents."
