Trezeguet changes mind, wants to play for France again

David TrezeguetParis - Former French international striker David Trezeguet said he has changed his mind and wants to play for the national side again.

In an interview published Wednesday in the daily L'Equipe, the injured Juventus Turin forward said: "I have always missed les Bleus, and I miss them today as well."

Asked if that meant he had changed his mind about retiring from international football, the 31-year-old Trezeguet said, "Yes, I'm thinking especially about the (2010) World Cup. I haven't excluded it."

Trezeguet retired from the France side in July of this year, after having been shunted aside by France coach Raymond Domenech, whom Trezeguet sharply criticized.

"We're all aware that Domenech isn't up to leading the French team, but no one acts on it," he said when he announced his retirement.

However, Trezeguet placed no condition on returning to the side. His played his last match for France was in March, against England.

Trezeguet has been capped 71 times and scored 34 goals, including the golden goal winner in the Euro 2000 final against Italy. (dpa)
