Tree pollen levels could increase in coming weeks
According to allergy experts, there is a possibility that tree pollen levels could reach strangely high levels in the coming weeks and it is because persistent colder temperatures delayed some trees from pollinating last month.
As per the experts, since not all trees pollinate simultaneously, the delay will result in a large amount of trees pollinating at once. Dr. Leonard Bielory, an allergy specialist at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, said there is a possibility that people might see clouds of pollen being released over the next numerous weeks.
The experts said those who live in the New England region could focus on pollen levels, although any region that's been slow to warm up this year might be affected. The New England region witnessed its 'last hurrah' winter storm in March.
"The general principle is the same: in the spring, wherever you are, whenever it becomes temperate, trees start to emit their pollen", said Dr. Rachel Miller, chief of pediatric allergy, immunology and rheumatology at Columbia University Medical Center.
There can be some ways to stay away from the runny noses, itchy eyes and headaches. As per the experts, classic over-the-counter allergy pills are there such as like Zyrtec and Claritin. But those who suffer from more severe allergies, they should seek medical advice this spring in case their condition worsens.
According to Dr. Miller, surely people can contact and visit their allergists. Allergists can help them to ensure that they're following correct behaviors to try to reduce exposure at the time they are doing exercise or jogging in the park.
