The new Tabeo tablet will only be available in the company's store and s not likely to be available on rival websites. The new tablet will go on sale on 21 October and customers can make a pre-booking on Toysrus. com.

Toys R Us is aiming to compete with the likes of Apple's iPad or Amazon's Kindle Fire with the Tabeo priced at just $150. The launch is aimed at capturing the market of the youngest technology users in the country. Toys R Us is facing stiff competition from not only Amazon. com Inc but also from other retailers.

Troy Peterson, lead marketer for the Tabeo said, "Kids are looking for a tablet of their own that can do everything from listening to music to playing with games."

The new Tabeo is aimed at children who are as young as 5 and comes pre-loaded with educational apps and an app store. Children will have access to a restricted number of apps.
