The Japan plant has a capacity of 220,000 units, while the British factory has a 130,000-unit capacity.

The company also plans to shut down a joint venture with US General Motors Corp, New United Motor Manufacturing Inc, which has a production capacity of 300,000 units, in March, according to The Nikkei newspaper.

Toyota expected to narrow its operating loss for the 2010 business year through March 31 to 750 billion yen (7.96 billion dollars). (dpa)
