Top Hizb militant escapes from court premises

A former divisional commander of Hizbul-Mujahedin, Rayees Kachroo escaped from a court premises in Pulwama in south Kashmir on Tuesday.

He was arrested seven months ago.

"Kachroo was being taken to the district court in Pulwama for hearing from the Srinagar Central Jail and was being escorted by a havildar and three constables," said Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Niyaz Mehmood.

The police is questioning the two constables to know how that incident happened. Kachroo was a top IED expert of the Hizbul Mujahideen.

He was also responsible for killing around two dozen of police personnel in South-Kashmir.
