Tooth decay increasing in young kids
Tooth decay increases in children during the holiday season. The reason behind the condition is an excess of long-lasting candies, gooey frosted cookies, hot chocolate and chewy fudge.
But the age old saying of keeping teeth clean would keep all tooth decay at bay, would work not only at a particular time but throughout the year in preventing tooth decay and cavities.
Tooth decay could also affect even babies due to excessive bottle or breast feeding. According to Dr. Felicity Hardwick, President of the BC Society of Pediatric Dentists, this situation could arise because liquids pool in the mouth of the babies who are fed while they are asleep. Since there is insufficient saliva to wash the mouths of the babies, it leads to acid attacks. This has a negative effect on the teeth which are still embedded in the gums and are on the verge of eruption.
The dentists recommend 10 Tips For Healthy Teeth -
