Tie Up Between Intel And DreamWorks To Produce 3-D Films
The starting of 2009 will see all of DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc’s films in next generation 3-D.
The chief executive of DreamWorks Animation, Jeffery Katzenberg, informed in an interview, “This is the next innovation for the movie industry. It impacts how we make our movies, how movie theaters present our films and how audiences experience our films.”
On Wednesday, at Intel’s Developer Forum in San Francisco, a 3-D movie image brand named InTru 3D was announced by Katzenberg's DreamWorks Animation and No. 1 chipmaker Intel Corp.
“Monster vs. Alines” would be the first movie produced by Dream Works Animation which will use the brand and logo. The movie is hoped to come out next March. However, the terms related to finances were not disclosed.
The head of Intel’s software and solutions business, Renee James, informed, “Intel's contribution to the 3-D partnership technology came through acquisitions of start-up companies, with more innovations from its stand-alone graphics chip due in 2009, code-named Larrabee.”
James further added that the two companies would be working together so that they can generate new computer animation from ground up.
The announcement of replacing the existing computing hardware has already been made by Dream Works. The news hardware will use Intel microprocessors and other technology for its large computer-animation operations.
Katzenberg feels that technology has advanced and now the animated 3-D images produced are far more superior to those produced decades ago, due to digital projectors and computers used in the production process.
