Tendulkar becomes the first to hit a double century in ODI cricket
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, rightly living upto his name hit the first ever double century in the history of One Day cricket, playing against South Africa. The history was created in Gwalior during the second match of the tri-match series between India and South Africa.
With a huge score from Tendulkar, India built up a massive target score for South Africa to chase. In response to that, the South African team crashed at 248 runs in 43rd over of the innings, bringing themselves a 153 run defeat in the match. This marked the victory for India in the series. India won the first match too by just one run.
The achievement adds yet another feather to Tendulkar's hat, who has been playing for India for more than twenty years now. This great achievement came to Sachin after playing 2961 one day international games. Sachin's double century obviously makes him the highest scorer in ODIs. The record was earlier held by Saeed Anwar of Pakistan and Charles Coventry of Zimbabwe with 194 runs. Tendulkar was close to breaking this record earlier in last November playing against Australia where he scored 175 runs.
