Tata Teleservices Introduces ‘Photon TV’
Tata Teleservices has made announcement about the launching of a PC and laptop-based video-streaming application, Photon TV.
The newly launched service allows customers to access channels on desktops as well as laptop computers while on the go.
Photon TV lets Tata Photon Plus users to view live TV feed from a range of sports, news, entertainment and regional channels.
The users can also select from a store of recorded television programs, films, music and videos, and receive them on demand.
The new service provides 40 channels through a Photon Plus data card providing highest speeds up to 3.1 mbps.
Moreover, Tata Teleservices has decided to strengthen the number of channels on offer to 90 by the next 3 months.
Tata Teleservices has joined hands with Apalya Technologies, which aggregates content and offers it to the service provider. The company has also signed up deals with broadcasters on a profit-share basis.
Lloyd Mathias, TataTeleservices chief marketing officer, said, “We have 40 per cent market share in the data card segment and hope to encash our existing customers to use TV. Also it will enhance data usage.”
Tata Teleservices thus far has half a million users of Photon broadband cards.
